This software

Hi there!

I downloaded this software thinking it would allow me to watch TV through my TV Wonder card but it doesn't. All it seems to have is the ability to schedule a recording then when recorded, allow you to watch that.

What I need is a TV player.

Ati's MMC (currently version 7.7) includes the TV player component. There should be a version with the CDs that came with the TV Wonder. Otherwise, you can download the MMC directly from Ati.

If you purchased PVS 2.0 you can help beta-test PVS 3.0 (which includes a TV player).

Go to

http://beta.snapstream.net/sscs/GenCDKey2.asp

Enter the email address you used to purchase PVS 2.0 and you'll get download information. Thanks.

I have been trying to get rid of the ATI MMC (current version is 7.1). If I upgrade my drivers to anything other than WXP_RADEON_6_13_3276 (I'm using a Radeon 8500), the TV display is corrupted. So I am either stuck with that older driver or I give up watching TV. I have my Digital Cablebox connected to the card.

Which brought me here, looking for just a TV tuner. No, I have not bought PVS 2.0, I will not pay any money down until I can see that it does indeed fit my needs and work easily and reliably.

THEIR software won't work with THEIR card?

This is correct. Their software doesn't work work with their card.

TV output looks like horizontal hold is screwed up; wavy horizontal lines. However, if I click RECORD..then save the recording..then play it back, it plays perfect.

So the issue is related to output. I emailed them and the only response was a link to their FAQ, which I already read and tried.

This issue has been plaquing me for a little over a year (or since the date the previous mentioned driver came out).

It also happened with the AIW Radeon with 32MB ram as well. So its not the TV Wonder card's fault. It happened under Windows 2000 Prof and Windows XP pro but *NOT* under Windows 98SE.

It's followed me from using an AMD cpu on an MSI mobo to an Intel CPU on an ASUS mobo.

Yep I have a TV-Wonder also and have the same problems (yea tuck, its horrible isn’t it). This is why I like quartz so much because it does all of the cool recording stuff (and lots of other great features) and it fills in the gap where ATI’s crappy software left off by giving me the ability to just simply watch live TV.

I purchased SnapStream 2.0 because I felt it alone was worth the money, and the fact that you get a free upgrade to 3.0 was just an added bonus. But that’s just my opinion.

I'm afraid to buy Snap 2.0 because it has no ability to allow you to just click an icon and watch TV. In fact, I went all through the demo version and could not figure out how to watch TV.

So if there is a version that does allow this, even if it only functioned for 1 day, I'd be glad to give it a trial to see if it suited my needs. If it did, I'd buy it.

Snapstream 2.0 does not, I believe, have a built-in TV viewing applet. However, Snapstream 3.0 Beta does.

Jory,

Sorry, but the beta version of 3.0 is closed to the general public. The only people who are allowed acccess to it are those who have already purchased PVS 2.0. Thanks.

Then post me some screen shots of 3.0 in action. I refuse to buy something that a sellar will not inform me about. That seems like they are trying to hide something. (I doubt it, but thats the appearance). I've gotten burned by bad software many times before and money is tight right now.

If somehow you can show me your software will meet my needs, I'll buy. I think that's fair enough.

Odd. Has this problem always existed?

But always with ATI's software, eh. Hmm, do THEY have a discussion group? Many members of the public who frequent a discussion group know more than the tech support personnel. This forum is no exception to that rule.

Will not? What gave you that impression? As my colleague Lam has said, "the BETA VERSION of 3.0" (my emphasis) is not available to the general public. We don't sell betas.

We allow registered users ( read: legitimate owners) of 2.0 to test 3.0 beta because we're giving them all a free upgrade to 3.0 anyway.

If you wish, you can wait until 3.0 full is released. It will doubtless have a corresponding "Lite" version that you can give a trial.

Yup. Our software, from the hands of software pirates.

I agree completely. In that case, I would suggest waiting for 3.0 "Lite." Alternately, I'd be more than happy to comply with your request for screenshots, but if our words aren't good enough, I wonder what good a still image will do. Was it our miswording -- that of presenting the misleading option "view live stream" where it should have read "view recording stream" that threw you off?

Regardless, I'm more than willing to help you. Let me know what your decision is.

My check is in the mail for your 2.0 software. When will 3.0 be available? I'll have to teeter along with this idiot ATI software until then. As for using 2.0 for anything, got any ideas?

This is a 4-computer network, all cat6 and 10/100 cards with a linksys 4port router. Total hard drive space : 750GB. Yes, that's GIGAbytes. Sony DRU500A DVD+RW and TDK 48x CDRW. SB Audigy 1 Platinum and Radeon 8500 and TV Wonder. 512MB SDRAM PC-133. (I know, hiddeously slow ram these days).

I have a Motorola Digital converter box plugged into the TV Wonder via RG6 coaxial cable.

There's a bigscreen TV in the front room, would be nice to be able to pipe MPG's from my hard drive to it. Is this possible wirelessly without dropping frames?
