Could not Find Video Capture Device

Every day or so, I get an error message that BeyondTV could not find video capture device"....

The error message also indicates that I should rerun the "Setup Wizard".

I rerun the setup wizard, delete the device involved (either my Hauppague PVR-150 or PVR-500) add it back in but the error keeps appearing.

Interestingly enough, if I set 3 simultaneous recording jobs, all three recording jobs work as expected.

How can I correct the problem that is causing this error message?

Re: Could not Find Video Capture Device

i have found that can't find capture device is somewhat misleading as that is not always the case..can't remember how i verified this a few months back, but i somehow noticed that was not the case. it would be interesting to find out what all the errors are that trigger this message or is the default message the system puts out if it knows something is wrong but can't be more specific.

Re: Could not Find Video Capture Device

Thanks for the comments. Since I haven't noticed any missing recordings perhaps it is an inconsequential error.

I am just trying to make the rror go away so that when warnings come up, they are truely important enough to read.

Take Care

Re: Could not Find Video Capture Device

i know what you mean. if i get such an error, i do one of 2 things:

easiest option- go to setup and remove the pvr devices, do a reboot and re setup.

2nd- remove using hwclear (i have 2 pvr 150s by hauppauge) , reboot and reinstall.

i have had some reluctance to reinstall my pvr drivers until i had to wipe and reinstall my os the other day. and i found that hauppauge has made driver installation much simpler with the drivers now available on their site. much simpler, no brainer to install than last time i had to so now i won't have any hesitation to reinstall if i suspect corruption of drivers causing errors. ( i actually have thought what errors i have had, are more likely a hauppauge problem than btv, but could be wrong)

do you have any monitoring software on your computer? like antivirus, spyware removers or firewalls?

Re: Could not Find Video Capture Device

No Spyware or firewall enabled. no antivirus as well. Using a netwrok appliance to accomplish that.
