Serial Tuner suddenly stopped working

Hi All,

I have a Motorola cable box and use the serial tuning function to change the channels. It suddenly stopped working and I am at a loss to get it working again.

I have not touched a thing as I have been away for a week or so. All of a sudden the recordings for the past five days are locked on the wrong channel.

To troubleshoot I have:

rebooted
checked the cables
unblugged the Motorola box for 15min
deleted and reinstalled the tuner card info from the wizard
uninstalled and reinstalled BTV4.7

What else can I try?

call the cable company to see if they locked down the box or updated the firmware

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that didn't solve the issue. Comcast said they have done nothing to my account on their end.

Additionally I tried troubleshooting the problem by swapping the Motorola boxes. We have one for a regular TV and a second for the HTPC. That didn't solve the issue.

When BTV changes the channel the numbers normally appear on the screen and there is a split second delay until the cable box changes the channels. Now the numbers aren't even showing up in BTV.

Any other ideas?

what model motorola box do you have?

It is a Motorola DCT2000. Again, I don't think the issue is with the tuner box. How can I troubleshoot this from the Snapstream side? How can I test if Snapstream is sending the change channel signal to my box?

run a debug view and you can see if it's trying to tune the channels

Do you have a link to how to run debug view? I didn't see it and a quick search didn't point me in the right direction either.

I already uploaded the log to the BTV server and submitted a ticket. Is that what you mean by debug view?

I'll have to try the debugview, but I wanted to note that my DCT-2000 just stopped responding to the serial port as well.
