Low volume on liveTV & playback

I'm on Vista ultimate with a X-Fi sound card with vista driver. TV card is Hauppauge 150MCE. On live TV sound level is very low altough the voulme indicator is on red. I've looked at the settings.xml and made changes proposed at http://snapstream.helpserve.com/inde...ticl eid=1402 without results.

I even tried to install AC3filter and I get no change in output volume.

I run v4.7.1

most of the time I see the problem is that sound is set to SPDIF, there's no volume with that option, use 5.1 instead.
