FireFly Mobile

Is there any trick to get FireFly Mobile to work. The only button that works on my Palm TX is the library feature. The other buttons don't appear to send anything. They don't even wake up the TX WiFI link if it is sleeping. I tried the page on the local machine and same thing except the volume buttons work.

I connect to the local wireless hub using the local iP address I get from the ipconfig command on my BTV PC. I have no clue how to expose the BTV to the internet on the other side of the fire wall, wirelss hub and cable modem router etc.

PaulF,
I think you're asking how to access BTV from outside your firewall. If so, here's a how-to I wrote on the subject. Hope it helps.

Thanks, but I mis-spoke. I am getting through the fire wall because I can start library programs. I looked at the html on the local machine because I can not see what is being sent to the Palm. The library button doesn't use a javascript HTTP request object that is different depending on browser. I'm guessing that obect that is used by other buttons isn't supported on the Palm's Blazer web browser. I see no requests(no "sending" message).

Re: FireFly Mobile

Well, I tried the Opera Browser on my Wii and it worked great.

I guess the Blazer browser on the Palm OS is known to have a weak javascript handler so I am guessing the Palm is not compatible with FF Mobile.

Re: FireFly Mobile

I can bring the page up on my iPhone and it is really cool, but I have what appears to be an insurmountable problem.

NONE of my TVs is attached to a server. They are ALL BTVLink. Am I correct that this doesn't work on Link? What a huge limitation.

I'm in the same boat... looking into an alternative

I have some tricks up my sleeve -- just haven't found the time to implement it yet.

Re: FireFly Mobile

I did some more searching and the reason the Palm TX probably doesn't work is because the javascript uses Ajax and the Palm does not support Ajax objects.

The library feature works so I wil use that and be happy.

BTW the FF Mobile doesn't work if the BTV window does not have the mouse focus. This is the reason using it on the same machine as BTV for debug did not work for me..

Re: FireFly Mobile

Hmm, just read about this, and while a BLink version of this would definately have it's benefits, the web interface sounds great. I am in the process of moving, and currently have 2 DLink boxes I use for playing my recorded shows, and now can use my phone of all things to hook my BTV box directly up to my TV in my Den. This is still the best dang PVR alternative I have seen. Thank you for making great software and keep up the great work.
