Sort...any way? Any way at all?

I'd just like to be able to sort my episodes in btv...heck, I'd even settle for an ascending/descending switch! With BTV Negociator, I can set them to their original air dates...but I'd like the first episode to be at the top. Or sorted by episode number. Something besides this horrid 'last modified' scheme where episodes are scattered about in whatever order BTV decided to record them in.

Any help would be much appreciated.

When you are on the recorded shows screen, push "right" on your remote. It will group you shows. All the "Eureka" programs will be in one folder and so on. They will be organized within by date.

i personally like folder view, i put my shows in there folders and sort them like that.

Neither response answers the original question though which is that you can't sort by episode whether by folder, by show or by all.

I have been searching for an answer to this question as well. In recorded shows, all of my shows are listed in descending order (newest episode first) whereas I would prefer them to be in ascending order (oldest episode first). For the life of me, I have not been able to find a way to change the sort order.

I suppose some people may want to switch it but I think the current way gives you the best of both worlds. Newest at the top means that you can quickly check if the latest ep got recorded. While you only have to press the up key to jump to the bottom of the list to watch stuff in order that it got recored in.

I use "all" and "by series" myself. I seldom use "by folder" but I do record into a few separate folders to make it easy to find and grab stuff to pull across to another machine for burning.

I like choice so I hope you get your option of changing the default way while I stay with it as is.

Most people would expect something like Windows Explorer type of view, where one can sort by any of several methods.

It is easy but slow to use third party tools to muck with the data base and get the results you want.

I feel your pain. I have written an app that will sort by Filename (it does so by modifying the 'last modified' timestamp using the BTV SOAP APIs (wow, that's a bunch of acronyms strung together). This is not idea, however, as I would like "real time" sorting options, but it's better than nothing. If this is acceptable to you, I can try to clean it up (it's part of an application I wrote that performs several functions, not just this sorting). If anybody knows of something other than a custom solution, however, it will save me time.

Thanks for the offer Smurph, I was just hoping for a way that was built into BeyondTV, so I wouldn't have to use a 3rd party app.

Even if you view the shows by series, they are NOT sorted by the date of airing, it's sorted by the date recorded. Which doesn't do much good if you're in the middle of a series when you start recording it, since they get added all higgly piggly (I'm pretty sure that isn't a word).

I guess I can't bitch too much, seeing as how the dvr that came with my satellite doesn't have any sort options. But that's why I got beyondtv, so I wouldn't have to deal with that craptacular interface anymore.

This is a reasonable feature request and has been requested repeatedly as long as I have been here (since early in 3.x). Telling people 'the current way is good' doesn't answer the question.

BTV is full of little of little things that could be improved. They probably should have one developer work on those crowd pleasers the Friday afternoon or something...
