Re: No QAM with HDHomerun on Time Warner

I appreciate all of the suggestions. They all help me to understand what's going on.

Right now my biggest problem is getting my Custom Lineup to show when I run the BTV setup utility. For the last few hours, I've remade my Custom Lineup several times and it shows it's there on the SnapStream web site, but fails to materialize when I then run the BTV setup. Either it shows no Custom Lineup or the name of the lineup I used to create the Custom Lineup. Yes, I did remember to save and on the web site and it shows two lineups, my regular standard analog cable and the new Custom Lineup I just made. I can even edit the new custom lineup and looks OK in the web editor, it just won't show up when I run BTV setup. While running BTV setup, it says it's going out to the internet and downloading my lineups. There are no errors reported. It just doesn't work.

Bye.

Re: No QAM with HDHomerun on Time Warner

I had exactly the same problem. Turned out that the snapstream.net account that I created with the trial version wasn't tied to my key. I just created a new snapstream.net account and all was well.

I have done what seems right setting this up and I still get it timing out (only about 20 seconds) when starting Live TV.

Can I set a longer time for starting Live TV?

How come the Silicondust tool can tune in a channel in a few seconds and show it in VLC a second or two later, and BTV can't?

I do appreciate the help from the BTV community.

Bye.

Re: No QAM with HDHomerun on Time Warner

THe format of your remap file looks different then mine. Take 1777. Mine has a "-" between the 77 and the 7 followed by a space followed by the physical channel followed by a space and then qam256 etc

; Created by HDHomeRun QAM Mapper
; - Version: 0.1.2.3
; - MCE Mode: False
; - OW Prefs: False
;
; Channel: 84
; Frequency: 585000000
; Modulation: qam256
; Program: 7
; Description: KABC
77 7 qam256:585000000 7

My Format:
77-7 37 qam256:585000000 7

Re: No QAM with HDHomerun on Time Warner

Besides the default of 15, I tried 30 and 60. This has no effect on the 20 second timeout for starting Live TV.

Re: No QAM with HDHomerun on Time Warner

I do know what you are talking about. If I use the tools from the time of the HDHomerun setup instructions, there is no dash between the major and minor channels. If I use the newer setup program that's not particularly compatible with the published instructionhs, it looks more like what you get. In the case of the example you cite from my remapper file, it would look like 7-7 7. That is, the physical, major and minor channels are numerically the same. This should be OK and is not rejected by the SnapStream.net lineup editor. It also shows just that way in the BTV Web Admin.

I'm still confused, of course.

Bye.

No. The format for that line is major-minor physical. So 7-7 7 is equal to your 1077, not your 1777 (which is 77-7 37)

It looks like this file has both OTA and QAM channels. I created a completely separate lineup just for QAM channels. To make is simple, you might just want to choose one QAM channel in the remap file and get it working. You can always add back the other channels to the remap file later.

Re: No QAM with HDHomerun on Time Warner

OK, this is weird. Right now I have two HD shows being recorded, along with two analog. So, how did that happen? Well, I deceided to try adding a dash between the major and minor channels in the remapping file and then reboot the PC. I don't know which of the two did it, but I'm up and running in QAM with several HD channels engaged. I'm afraid to try and figure out why.

I thank everyone who contributed to my knowledge base.

Bye.
