Motorola DCT700 and USBuirt

Comcast finally went digital last week here in Chicago and forced me to get an external box Motorola DCT700. I bought the USBuirt as directed. The specific Motorola DCT700 isnt listed so I had to train the #'s manually which seemed to go well. However when it runs the test it sees all the numbers except "1" or "2" or "3". I have tried various combinations of milliseconds between and # of key presses to no avail. Anyone else had to deal with this?

Re: Motorola DCT700 and USBuirt

seeing that the dct 700 responds to the same signals as the dct 2000, 2500, 5100, 6200, 6208, 6412 and 6416 im pretty sure if you select dct 2000 it should work fine. the only thing different with a dct 700 is no front led and no analog tuner.

Re: Motorola DCT700 and USBuirt

When I initially got Comcast here in Minneapolis, I had that box at first. Installation was absolutely a bear and could not find a setting to work with the thing (at the time I had Beyond TV 3.57 Which has no support for these that I could find). I just limped along with the thing by pre-setting channels and manually scheduling records.

As it turned out, the boxes had so many problems that it was almost unusable even as a simple tuner box. Everytime Comcast did something in the area to something, the thing would develop flickering in the image and Snap would record it. We thought it was a bad box so we took it back and exchanged it. The second box was DOA. Took it back eventually (lousy customer service) and got yet another one. Hooked that one up and had no sound out of it. Again returned it for a final box. That time, I requested no more of these DCT700's, and wanted something else because Comcast (Comcrap to me by this time) doesn't compensate you in any way for their junk equipment failures.

I've since moved to BeyondTV 4.6 and probably could talk to those boxes, but given my history with it, I don't think thats likely to happen ever again. I think they will be coming out with yet another box soon that no one will have the codes to program it because Comcast really doesn't want you using any one elses PVR or even a VCR, they want you using their set-top PVR (at their monthly rates;... of course). Dish Network Rocks!!

Re: Motorola DCT700 and USBuirt

I have a DCT 700 and it is driving me nuts and I can't seem to get BeyondTV and my cable box to communicate correctly.

Here is my setup:

I am using the "Microsoft Media Center Remote Control"
USB-UIRT
I have tried "Unlisted Device" and I have tried "Motorola DCT-2000, 2244, 6200" and I keep running into problems.

When going into unlisted device; I make up a name and when I click on next I get an error MSG "There was a problem communicating with the IR Device, try disconnecting and reconnecting it." I have tried reconnecting, I have tried different USB Ports, I have fiddled with the connection on the block. When I do click on ok on the MSG Box it seems like I can train my remote. When in this page of the setup I press on train, it automatically goes to Remote Configured. No thinking, no boxes checked. Arghhhh

When I try another Device "Motorola DCT-2000", I click on "Run Test" and I get an error MSG here too. "Please make sure your device is pointing directly at your receiver." It does this every time I try to click on "Run Test".

Can anyone please give me some help with this? I have video/sound but I cannot change the channel for recording. I need this done automatically.

Thanks for the help,
Griffalo
