Need some advice on 3rd tuner setup

I currently have 2 pvr 150's and plan to add a 3rd tuner. I was thinking of adding a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB2 with IR Blaster.
The part I am worried about is the IR Blaster. I currently have a USBIRT and IR Blaster for the 150's.

Will adding the second IR Blaster cause me any problems? If so...what is the work around? Or other options?

If I decided to replace one of the 150's with a dual tuner card. Which Hauppauge card would would I get, what is the model # for a person in Canada? And do the dual tuners come with IR Blaster built in?

Re: Need some advice on 3rd tuner setup

OK, I'm confused. Are you talking about having THREE cable/sat boxes? If so, you can do that with ONE USB-UIRT. All you need is two emitters and a mini-plug stereo to mono adapter (stereo plug splits to two mono jacks). The USB-UIRT is Zone 3 and the L and R channels are Zone 1 and 2.

The USB2 works fine with your PVR150s. I have two USB, one PVR500 dual tuner and two PVR-250 in my computer.

That said, I doubt you need three zones and three cables boxes unless you want to record THREE premium channels at the same time. You can run the cable directly into one or two of the tuners and use a cable box on the other(s). Just setup your lineups correctly and BTV understands when to use what tuner.

Re: Need some advice on 3rd tuner setup

Im running 2 satellites and want to add a 3rd.
I actually just discovered the USBIRT is able to control 3 zones. Currently trying to figure it out.
Setting up USB-UIRT zones for multiple set-top boxes - http://snapstream.helpserve.com/inde...rticleid=1469#

It is dated May 14th,2007. The mod may have been around for awhile, but this is the first time I have come across some instructions.

Thnks for the input tscales.

Re: Need some advice on 3rd tuner setup

There's a HUGE bug though. After you make the changes and create the files for each zone, make a copy of them OUTSIDE of that directory.

After you run the setup wizard, everything will be setup, but it will corrupt those files. Once you're done with the setup wizard and before you open BTV, copy them back on from your save into the folder.

Do a search on my posts (tscales). I wrote up detailed zone instructions.

Re: Need some advice on 3rd tuner setup

OK figured it out. I don't have the right splitter, but 2 zones is definitely working...and I think it is only a matter of getting the proper splitter to have 3 zones.

Thnks Again
