Incremental Guide update not working
I have 4.6.1. Manual updates to the guide are good with a full update. Daily incremental updates in the log appear to be working but my guide runs out of data after a while. Any ideas?

Re: Incremental Guide update not working
Same thing here except I'm running 4.5.
What lineup are you using? I'm using STARCHOICE WEST. I have been tracking this issue for a couple of weeks. Seems like it's the same channels that don't get updated during an incremental (auto update turned on). I've tried all the suggestions on this forum (delete 7 files from temp folder and re-rerun the wizard). Each time an incremental occurs the same channels get missed. So far I've waited for two incremental s and the same channels remain UNAVAILABLE from the point where the last successful FULL UPDATE occurred . If I wait longer, eventually I'll have no guide data for those same channels and only a few channels with data. This, as you can imagine, causes major problems for scheduled shows! I realize I could turn off auto update and manually look after it or use the BTV negociator; but I would prefer if the auto update feature of BTV worked as it should!

Re: Incremental Guide update not working
Hi,
The only solution I could find was the Negociator solution I posted in the other thread. Negociator would not save the settings between reboots or start up correctly for me on a reboot. To be fair I didn't work on it that hard though. I see there is another thread active with the same problem so I conclude this is the only fix. My trial has expired and I won't be purchasing. I'm off for a SageTV trial. If I don't come back you know where I went |

Did you try forcing a Save on the Paramaters sub-tab (Configuration tab)? If you manually added it to the Start up folder, that would create such problems...

For sure I did not add it to the start up folder. I believe I used the save on the parameters sub tab. Thanks for the reply. At the moment I've gone a different route and GBPVR seems to be working quite well. |

Re: Incremental Guide update not working
I also have the incremental guide update problem. I'm using 4.6.1 but have had this problem since 4.6.0 I believe.
Only a full update (manual) solves it. I also get the 'Unavailable' tags and missed scheduled recordings. I haven't tried Negociator to fix this... the manual update once a week is fine until it's fixed internally. Darren.

Re: Incremental Guide update not working
I'm on 4.0 and have this guide update issue as well. It's not consistent and the "Unavailable" only shows up occasionally - a full guide download fixes it (for a while). I've read numerous posts on this issue and haven't bothered upgrading because it still seems to happen to people. It hasn't happened recently.

Re: Incremental Guide update not working
Same thing happens to my BTV box, and the one I built for my parents. Both running 4.6.1, and more and more channels start showing 'Unavailable' in the guide as time goes on. A manual update fixes it for awhile, but inevitably the issue returns.

Re: Incremental Guide update not working
I am running version 4.2 and I am having this problem as well. However, I didn't start noticing this problem until like a month or so ago when I noticed that I didn't get some of my shows recorded. When I went to investigate, the channel that they were on was showing "unavailable" for the guide information. Manual update fixed it, but then a week later they went back to unavailable.
Important to note is about this same time is when I turned on the automatic guide update service. Prior to that, I just manually did it every 2 weeks. Think I am going back to manual updating. |

Re: Incremental Guide update not working
Has there been any progress on this issue. I did contact tech support many times in April.

Re: Incremental Guide update not working
Yup, the problem still exists - I had to do a manual download yesterday to get the "unavailables" to fill in properly. In my case, it seems to affect the locals in the Dallas dishnetwork lineup.

Re: Incremental Guide update not working
Trust me guys when I say this has nothing to do the version of BTV you are running nor th lineup you have. I am still on BTV 3.5 and I am in Toront Canada and observe this issue intermitently from way back when I used to use BTV 3.0 .
Sometimes it is fine for a long time and then shows itself again when you get confortable and think it is gone. I noticed it used to happen a lot when 4.0 just came out and then it was fine for a while and has come back over the last few months on and off. When I remembrer I do an update but I have grown so accustomed to it working in the past that sometimes I forget and only remember when I relaize that I miss a recording of a show. I suspect the issue is in the incremental data itself being downloaded and the prorotol for the incremental update. My current motto is "... if it works and the wife is happy ... leave it alone". If things continue like this for too much longer I will just try to write a little app that will trigger a full update every couple of days (maybe once a week) ... either through the webservices interface or doing an http post to the web interface. |
