Video quality Fair vs Good(dvd quality)

Im recording brodcast tv with the attempts to burn them on dvd. Should I do this with the Video Quality Good vs Fair? My thinking is I want to save disk space and since broadcast quality is low already would GOOD(dvd Quality) make that much of a diffference. If it doenst, I can save some Hard drive space.

Let me know

thanks

I don't think any one elses opinion really matters. Only you can decide this.

Pick a show you like and go into manual recordings and set it to record a few minutes at good and then a few minutes at fair. Then watch and decide.

Re: Video quality Fair vs Good(dvd quality)

I use Fair as my default quality to save space, and it is more than adequate for most of the crap I watch. It is noticeably inferior, though, especially if there's a lot of motion, anything I really care about uses "Good DVD Ready". Anything you intend to burn should ideally use one of the "DVD Ready" qualities. Otherwise, the video will have to be re-encoded to DVD standards by the DVD burning software, which will take MUCH longer, not to mention max out your CPU for the entire process.

I use Nero 7 for burning. For whatever reason, it re-encodes the audio in my files, but that only takes about 10 minutes for a movie. Also, I vaguely recall that Nero didn't like the "Best DVD Ready" quality & re-encoded it, but I may be wrong on that count.
