Question Can you sort recordings?

I have Divx AVI movie storage (that wasn't recorded on BTV) on a separate networked computer on multiple drives. I set those drives as video folders and BTV puts all these stored movies in the "Unknown" folder. When you look in this folder, the movies are alphabetical for each drive -- the alpabetizing stars over in the list for each drive's group of files.

Two questions: Can I change the name of the "Unknown" folder? and Can I sort the entire unknown folder so I have one alphabetized list?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Can you sort recordings?

i wonder a similar thing.
I have so many "kid show" recordings that i would like to stick into a "kids shows" folder and not have to see in my "normal show listing" that I look through to find my shows.
Further, it would be fun to sort "Christmas Shows", "Dramas", "Favorite Sports", etc
Basically to be able to re-arrange and re-sort shows based on MY preferences, not something that is built into the file data.
thanks

Re: Can you sort recordings?

You certainly can do this. Goto http://localhost:8129 from the BTV Server or the proper IP of the BTV Server from another PC in your network.

When the Web Admin loads click: Recorded Shows then By Folder

Select the folder that contains the videos you wish to modify and then select the Options/Edit button for video you wish to change the display information for.

In the Series Title: box you can enter in the a name (this will act like the folder you describe) the Episode Title Box: help break down watch you are watching.

If you are displaying movies at the bottom of the page there is an option to a drop down to tell the system it is a movie and will put it in the "Movie" folder.

You can do many things with the edit screen. For example if you have Home Movies you want to view with BTV in the Series Title: box enter in Home Movies, do this for every home movie and the will all show up under the "folder" Home Movies. You can then set the Episode Title box to what the movies is about such as Billy's 10th birtday party or Vacation of 2008.

Hope this help.

Re: Can you sort recordings?

It would be helpful if we could create our own folder like the "Movies" folder that defaults in BTV. Or maybe the ability to have recorded shows sort by Genre in the Recorded shows in the 10ft interface. If I could go through and click all the kids shows into a Kids folder (and setup the recording to go into that folder) , then every show they want to watch would be in there....regardless of the title.

I know we can sort by folder and do this to a degree, but I tried this but it creates extra steps to back out to other shows. I just want it listed when sorted by series but have multiple titles in one folder. Like Movies
