Need an Amplified Splitter

I'm quickly realizing I need to put a decent splitter in. I'm soon going to have my cable line split 6 times. I have 4 btv connections, cable modem and VOIP router (from comcast).

I've searched the forums and saw several recommendations for the electroline brand but those post we're several years old. I'm wondering with QAM and the HDHomeRun, cable modems, etc., is this still the way to go?

I'm still using them, and just got the 8100 for my 3 HDHRs. I'll be hooking them up this afternoon.:

Re: Need an Amplified Splitter

I bought the Channel Master 3045 from Moyer. Eight amplified outputs (I needed 6 so two are currently not used). Works great.

Re: Need an Amplified Splitter

I'm using Channel Plus amplified splitters, and have been happy with them.

You can find them at Buy.com or Amazon...

Re: Need an Amplified Splitter

I'm curious to know why you felt you needed an amplified splitter. What BTV related problem did amplifying the signal solve?

I'm using two Hauppauge PVR-150s and the sharpness and clarity of the image is excellent, but the images are dark. I was wondering if an amplified signal might restore the images to the proper brightness.

Thanks,

Mike.

I have some channels that are fuzzy, others a fine. Removing my current splitter cleaned it up.

Re: Need an Amplified Splitter

I found this a while back, pretty good site for understanding signal strengths and splitting/distributing your TV signals around the house...

Re: Need an Amplified Splitter

As nanook105 mentioned, you might want to check out Electroline's "EDA-FT08100" amp.
It is one of the few amps that has 8 ports and *Zero Return Loss.

They're available at http://cabletvamps.com/drop%20amps.htm

Zero return loss is very important for you to be able to use all of your Broadband, Digital, and On-Demand services with virtually no technical knowledge - for years to come. The FT08100 takes the guesswork out of distributing your home cable signal. With connections on the SIDE of the amplifier rather than the top, Flat-Top models are also easier to manage, especially in restricted spaces! Easy to use, easy to install.

Re: Need an Amplified Splitter

I do a single non-amplifieds split prior to the amp. One side goes to the cable modem and the other to the amp. Seems to keep the cable modem happy. I use Channel Vision's amp.

I'm doing a single split to two drop amps, and I connect my cable modem to the 8100 (set it up today and so far so good).
