Computer restarts as soon as live TV is selected.
My computer turns itself off for about 15 seconds as soon as I try to watch TV on the 4.5 demo. It then starts back back up to a normal windows boot. (no BSD, no heat warnings, no fatal exceptions) I see many people have this problem, but the response always seems to be 'post your specs' no matter how many they tell ya so heres everything DXdiag gives. It should be everything you need I hope.

Re: Computer restarts as soon as live TV is selected.
I don't know the answer, but are you sure that it isn't blue screening? Do you have automatic restart enabled under control panel, system, advanced, startup and recovery? Make sure that it isn't so that it'll show the screen.
When I first put together my new server I had some bad memory and it'd work fine until I tried to do something taxing and then it'd reboot.

Re: Computer restarts as soon as live TV is selected.
You are attempting to watch "Live TV"? If so can you set up a recording to see if the PC reboots then? The DxDiag has a lot of info in it. I know I'm not going to sift through it all. So reall quick what kind of capture device are you using?
If it's a PCI card it could be an interupt issue. Which PCI slot is the card in. Move it to a free slot and try again. If you use a USB capture device you'll have to wait for someone who uses USB since I do not have one of those. Good luck.

Re: Computer restarts as soon as live TV is selected.
I have an ATI TV Wonder 200 (PCI) I'm fairly sure its not an interupt issue as I can watch tv on ATI's bundled software, which I dont like. (no ability to set up a search for shows and automaticly record them) Just to be sure I moved slots but same issue. It also crashes when I watch a recording, and yes its not a blue screen, I do see those when they happen.

Re: Computer restarts as soon as live TV is selected.
If it's crashing on viewing recording as well, then you might have a video driver issue, not a tuner issue.
Do you use DirectX view or the overlay view in BeyondTV? |

Re: Computer restarts as soon as live TV is selected.
Ok started playing around with video driver stuff. (i was in overlay but switching mode made no difference) Just to check I removed my ATI video drivers and this worked fine. Seems to be some conflict between ATI's latest drivers and BT.
