Clock
So I finally get everything tweaked and in working order, ready to sit back, relax and enjoy my PVR. But of course something needs to break.....my Windows time is running too fast. If I set it for the correct time, it will be ahead by 10 minutes within only a couple minutes. I replaced the battery, scanned for adware and viruses. Don't know what else to do. Does BTV have a clock that I can use independently of Windows time?

Re: Clock
Not in BTV. Do you have internet time synchronization running (it's a tab in date/time in the control panel)?

Re: Clock
i had that problem once. I loaded a program called atomic clock which is free, It will connect over the internet daily and keep your time perfect to the second.

Re: Clock
I use Dimension4 to keep my HTPC time accurate. It has many options and it works very well. I set mine to sync every 24 hrs.

Re: Clock
Yup, it would seem to me to be hardware related.

Re: Clock
Ok, PC has been on all day and when I got home, it was only ahead by a few minutes and the last windows synchronization was last night. I installed D4 and it is awesome. I have it set to sync every 15 minutes, will this cause errors in BTV recordings if the time needs changing upon sync?
Should I run D4 as a service? |

Re: Clock
That will be fine. I run D4 with its defaults just in normal mode. No issues with BTV.
edit to add. You going to see it changing the time by fractions of a second. Its not going to affect BTV.

Re: Clock
In the last two or three days my clock has started running 3 minutes fast per day. Noticed the show guide and recodings were early. Did some searching just after reading this thread and found a possible cause...failing CMOS battery. For some this has fixed the problem. Might be worth checking.

This is really strange, but apparently not uncommon. Check the last post here http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-256254.php BB

You don't have to install anything, just update your registry to run the windows time sync more often. Do a search here or with Google there are plenty of places that give the details. If the program works for you then by all means use it. I just prefer not to install anything I don't have to on my server. The time getting updated should not cause a problem. Although updating every 8 hours would probably suffice. [edit]I just read the link in the above post and maybe in your case 15 minutes is required.[/edit]

Re: Clock
Try argosoft time sync also, it's another program that works well, it runs as a windows service and is controlled using a control panel applet.
