Beyond TV fails to record Motorola QIP-6416 remote channel-keys 0,2,4,9 properly

Verizon FIOS provides the Motorola QIP-6416 set top box in New York. I am preparing for making recordings and have bumped up against a connundrum.
Beyond TV is unable to effectively record channel signals 2, 4, 9 and 0 from the remote of
the Motorola QIP-6416 set top box. The QIP-6416 is not officially listed so I had to invent it.
The channel-key recording process is quite easy and the channel keys act like they have
been recorded (they emit a signal) but the signal they record for the above channels does not
cause the set top box to respond.

As a test I acquired a program called IR-Command-2 which also records remote channel-key
signals and turns them into an on-screen remote. IR-Command-2 was able to effectively record
2,4,9 and 0 so I know the issue is not the set top box, the USB-UIRT or the Motorola remote.
Since I am now in possession of the correct signals in the IR-Command-2 software and said software
allows me to copy them and paste them; is there a way to paste the signals into the Beyond TV software
directly through regedit?

The file you'll want to edit is in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond TV\tuner\UUIRT_Remotes
its' best to edit the file before starting the Beyond Tv setup.

I had a simular issue with a Motorola RG2400 which Bell Canada's ExpressVu for Condos uses. It seems the IR remote only transmits the key code in a single burst and not continously which the learning program is looking for, so it never completes the learning unless you press the key multiple times. But then you end up with the issue of multiple key presses when a single code is transmitted.
If the codes from the IR-Command-2 don't work, try http://www.usbuirt.com/lrnhelper_0_0_2.zip. The codes from this program can be cut and pasted into the UUIRT_Remotes file.

an alternate solution for MOT boxes.....is you have a firewire connection on the STB (and FCC requires them to provide one if you ask), you can set up the firewire to change channels instead of IR (see firewire recording thread for details....just ignore the recording part and implement the channel changing part)
