Automatically transfer files?

I have my main HTPC set up in my living room with a dual tuner card running BTV 4.5 that I just downloaded today! I had an ATI HDTV Wonder installed with a small antenna but the reception bad so I moved it to another computer in my office which is on the other side of the house and the reception is better. I can get all my local channels OTA!

What I would like to do is have the HD shows that I record in the office automatically transfer to my HTPC. Any advise how i can do this? All my computers are hardwire networked and my recorded shows folder on my main HTPC is shared so i can get to it from my office. right now after i record an HD show in the office I manually copy it to my main HTPC.

Thanks for any ideas. Steve

Re: Automatically transfer files?

So will your HTPC have any tuners in it? If not load BTV on the one in the office and use BTV Link on the HTPC. No need to transfer files. If you already have to copies of BTV you can run one in "link mode" though I can't remember the command line switches to make it work that way.

Either way no need to transfer files.

You can also use the task scheduler to schedule a task to copy your files over every night then delete them afterward - at say 3am? Those huge files can take a while to move depending on how many shows you have and how fast your network is.

Re: Automatically transfer files?

I use SmartSyncPro to do something similar.
I'm sure if you google it you'll find more info.

Re: Automatically transfer files?

I think there used to be a "copy only" option when using showsqueeze, not sure if it is still in there.

Re: Automatically transfer files?

I thought about using the PC in the office for my main HTPC and "Linking" the one in the living room but I only own one copy of Link which I use for another PC in the bedroom. I really don't want to spend any more money on this. Also, I am a gamer and I dont really want to have that system always dedicated to being the HTPC. Maybe I will have to build a dedicated box with more LInks. The wife will love that!

I will try the program that was suggested also. Thanks for the ideas!

CustomPostProcessing.xml

<Value>I:\tv\comskip\comskip.bat</Value>
</Property>
</PropertyCollection>
</Task>
</CustomTasks>

Bat file

:: clean up log and txt files
del "%~pdn1".log
del "%~pdn1".logo.txt
del "%~pdn1".mpg.index.dat
del "%~pdn1".tp.index.dat
del "%~pdn1".txt
move "%~pdn1".* o:\o-tv

The DeferredImmediate means only one will copy at a time, even if more than one show ends at the same time.

You'll have to modify the drive letters.

Works nicely.
