CBS Sunday nights

Hello,

I searched and did not find this question anywhere so here it goes.

Has nayone else ran into a problem with CBS and the way they do Sunday night shows? What CBS does, is if the sport event runs over, they broadcast the complete shows after the sporting event, just starting the show late. Sometimes this has been as much as 55 minutes late. The shows still last the hour long, but the start and end times are all messed up.

How can I set BeyondTV to try to capture one of the shows on CBS this way? Any ideas? Even manual does not seem to work, as it wants an end time in like 15 min intervals, and that is not what the shows are doing.

Thanks
Dave

Re: CBS Sunday nights

I've been recording the two half hour shows after Without a Trace. I have to set them up manually which is a pain, but it seems to be the only way to avoid missing the show.

Ugly.

Re: CBS Sunday nights

I wait for 60 Minutes to come on and I take note of the time, then I go into each show's details I am recording and tell the recording to start late and end late.

Take tonight for example the football ran 18 mins over. I started the recording 17 mins late and ended them 20 mins late.

I know this can be a pain but it works for me even thought it changes from week to week.

Thanks
Mike

Re: CBS Sunday nights

I just record the next show after the one I want recorded. So when I want to see Amazing Race for instance, I also record Cold Case so I'll catch the part of Amazing Race that runs over its normal time. Not sure any other way to deal with it. I do the same thing when there is a Presidential address on where you're not sure if it will run over.

Re: CBS Sunday nights

I had a slightly different problem here in St. Louis last night - the local CBS affiliate, expecting a World Series Game 7 to clobber their ratings, aired a movie after the Race, then ran Case 'n' Trace starting at 1:55AM. Tragically, SS.net reported the start time as 1:35AM.

Old Chinese Proverb: man with one watch knows what time it is. Man with two watches is never sure.

So I used my VCR. Sigh.

The only problem I see with this is you have to remember in a week or two which second show to watch to see the end of your first show. I think I will stay with my way for now. Sure would be nice to have a simple way to delay a nights recordings according to a channel for just these situations, call it a channel delay setting if you will.

Also Brent where do you live in KC, I live in Grandview.

Thanks
Mike

Yeah, not the most elegant solution for sure. Wonder if you could add an hour of padding?
