BTV4.4 + Time warner Cable NYC??

using dvico USB HDTV tuner, can I pull DTV (not HDTV) signal directly from the wall without using the STB? I've split the signal coming out of the wall, but when I plug the signal from TWC into the USB tuner, the only channel that really works is channel 3, as if I was pluggin into a TV. I guess what I'm asking is can I avoid using the STB for my PC since my TV is on the other side of the room and I'd rather keep that signal separate from the one going into the PC. i'd like to get scifi, comedy central, etc. w/o using the STB.

thx in advance for any help I can get....

You can, but the Dvico isn't a good choice as it doesn't have a hardware encoder. A better choice would be a Hauppauge PVR-150 or dual tuner PVR-500.

Sorry for the newbie questions, just want to make sure I understand: how does the encoder pull the signal from the cable provider? I thought that it was similar to plugging the coaxial into the TV directly.

I bought the Dvico for the HDTV features. But since this is my only TV tuner, I thought I would try to pull the feed from TWC. If getting a PCI TV tuner will allow me to get basic cable channels, then that's what I'll do. I just want to make sure that this is the case.

thx again.

Yes it will. The Dvico might actually work, although it isn't the best choice for Analog. Give it a shot. I have 5 tuners connected directly to cable and can get all the basic cable channels -- FX, USA, etc.
