Dual Dvico HDTV5 gold tuner question

I am trying to get a DUAL HDTV5 gold tuner (PCI) system working with BTV. I can get ONE of the cards to work fine. When I plug in the second card, it installs properly and device manager says both cards have proper drivers with no errors.

However, I can get no video or sound from the second card. But if I run the second card with the first card removed, then I get video and sound from it as well.

It appears as if there is some sort of conflict if two Dvico cards are installed at the same time. I first had a non-intel MB and a two LITE cards. I was told by Dvico that I needed to switch to an INTEL chipset MB and GOLD cards and the problem would go away. UNfortunately, here I am with a new MB, and new Dvico HDTV5 GOLD PLUS cards and still I am not able to get dual cards to work. Some of you guys seem to have gotten two Dvico PCI tuner cards to work. What is the secret?!

Thanks
Joe

Re: Dual Dvico HDTV5 gold tuner question

i was under the impression that dual DVICO's was always a bad idea...unless there was a USB version in the mix

Re: Dual Dvico HDTV5 gold tuner question

Hah! My 2nd Dvico HDTV5 card arrived today in the mail! The currently installed card, which works fine, is a HDTV5 gold. The 2nd card is a Lite. (Both are PCI cards.) I'll install and report back.

What driver version are you using? Be sure to use the more current ones since DVico drivers did not support dual cards originally.

Re: Dual Dvico HDTV5 gold tuner question

I have the latest (v 3.41) drivers downloaded 9/25/2006) and the latest BTV4.4 as well. But the problem seems to be in the DVICO part of the system. I have a HDTV5 LITE card in another machine. Tonight I will remove one of my HDTV5 GOLD cards and try one lite and one GOLD and see if that does anything different.

Interestingly, I see NOTHING in the Dvico literature about running more than ONE Dvico card. I wonder if they have sorted this configuration out?

Re: Dual Dvico HDTV5 gold tuner question

No luck.. I took out ONE of my two Dvico HDTV5 cards and put in a Dvico HDTV5 LITE card. The system found the new hardware and the drivers were installed as normal. Win xP SYSTEM/devices shows all drivers installed and operating properly. Still no sound or video from the second card.

Now I have the GOLD card working just fine and no picture or sound on the LITE card either in setup or in normal mode.

I am beginning to think Dvico has not tested out multi card PCI configurations!

Does ANYONE have a working setup with two DVICO HDTV5 GOLD/LITE PCI cards?

Thanks
Joe

Re: Dual Dvico HDTV5 gold tuner question

IRQ conflict sounds like a possibility. But I have no error messages. How can I check to see if I have IRQ conflicts? I went to Device manager and looked a the eight or so Dvico devices listed under Audio/Video devices and I see nothing unusual. But I do not see anthing about IRQs either.

Thanks

Re: Dual Dvico HDTV5 gold tuner question

Here is the IRQ list from my Intel MB. It surely IS sharing a lot of IRQs including the ones used by the two HDTV5 tuners. How do you make the IRQs change numbers? They do not seem to be under (casual) user control.

Re: Dual Dvico HDTV5 gold tuner question

Ok, I plugged in a 2nd DVICO HDTV5 tuner (PCI) today and it works just fine.

1) Plugged in 2nd tuner
2) Booted into Windows. Windows discovered the hardware just fine and installed drivers off the disk.
3) Went into BTV setup/configuration, added a new source (Dvico fusion tuner #2).
4) Started BTV and it all works just fine.

Details:
1) 2 Dvico fusion tuners, 1 gold version, 1 lite version.
2) I've got a total of 11 FusionHDTV devices listed in the Device Manager.
3) The FusionHDTV WDM Video Capture driver is listed as 5/24/2003, version 5.1.12.1. Same for the FusionHDTV WDM ATSC TvTuner. Other FusionHDTV devices have different driver versions and dates.

I'd be willing to bet that you either have a driver problem or and IRQ conflict.
