How to record only one episode per day

Let's say there a music program called "Top 5 music" that plays the exact same episode 10 times per day, but I obviously only want one recording, not 10 of the same thing. How can I set beyond TV to do this? Is the only option to program a manual recording?

Does setting up BTV to only record the new shows not work? If not, then could be the guide data that does not properly indicate if it is a first run or repeat. I suppose you could then set it up to keep only 1 show. You'd just have to watch the show that day before it's replaced with the next day's show. Or I suppose you could just go through the guide and set individual recordings for each day. Just do this once a week (ex. every Sunday).

The only new option doesn't work because the program title and description is the same for every episode (for example "Top 5 music - A show about the current best music") so it records the same show the 10 times it plays each day.

I guess a manual recording is my only option, they should add a "Record only once per day" option in BTV, because I have many other programs like this that replay the same episode multiple times per day.

Nothing you can do, I suggested a long time ago they add a record only once every 24 hours option. There are quite a few shows out there that do this. With News shows this is quite common. My local news for example plays at 11:00PM and then they re-run it early the next morning. BTV always records both.

i would love to see this addition to scheduling options. i have the same problem with sportscenter. i only want to record the 11 pm sportscenter (when it's on). to me this would be an easy addition to scheduling and a valuable one.

i know, before all the replies come in, that i can manually setup a recording for 11 pm on espn. but, (1) i don't want it to record if it's not sportscenter, (2) sometimes sportscenter is 1 or 1 1/2 hours, (3) i don't wan to have to think about it, that's the beauty of the program guide and btv.

this is a sticky issue. as I recall mythtv has a number of these flexible settings, so it could be done if someone were to take the request seriously enough.
