Guide Update Fails

I have a problem with the program guide update process. The process consistently runs to about 50% complete and then fails. I had the problem with release 4.3 so I upgraded to release 4.4 and still have the problem. The process fails when I run it manually as well as automatically. Most of the time the process just fades away without any error message. Also, recording requests done from the internet (Snapstream.net) also fail. My guide is empty now. I have tried re-running the setup wizard and re installing the software but have had no success. It appears that the updates actually download but fail in the update process.

I am running XP, AMD 32000, Nvidia 6600 Video card and a dual tuner system (A Hauppauge PRV-150 to record from a Dishnetwork Receiver and a Avermedia A180 HDTV to record local digital stations. All aspects of this setup worked well until the last few weeks. My best guess is that a recent XP update caused the problem, but that’s only a guess because that is the only change that has occurred on my system(that I am aware of) in the last few weeks. Any insight or suggested fixes would be appreciated.

Perhaps you should use the XP restore feature to go back to a date where it was working, and see if in fact the update caused the problem.

I used system restore to place the pc back to when the guide was working and it did not fix the problem. The guide update still fails at 50%.

I un-installed Snapstream and then re-installed and now the guide update works.

It’s me again. I am getting very frustrated with BTV program guide updates failing. I have been using BTV for a few years now and wonder if the guide update process will ever work consistently well. I n version 3, it was painfully slow but it worked most of the time. In version 4, when it works, it works well, but that seems to be rare. At my last post, I re-installed version 4.4 and the guide update finally worked. I thought my problem was fixed. I now think is was just my lucky day. I recently I noticed that I had only 3 days left so the automatic guide updates were failing. After trying several manual downloads that failed for various reasons I don’t know what else to do. I am coming to the conclusion that it has nothing to do with my setup. Without a accurate guide, the whole process becomes painful. All of the other features in BTV work really well for me, but I tired of dealing with the guide problems. As you can see above, I have a dual tuner setup, one analog card using dishnetwork, and one digital card for locals. Does anyone else have a similar setup with the same results?
