ATI 650 problems

I just added a new ATI 650 to compliment my Dvico Fusion. Wanted two HD tuners.

The problem?

The 650 can't find a single channel, either scanning with the ATI application or with BTV. I'm using the exact same antenna as the Dvico. Tried it both direct connect and split with the Dvico. Dvico works fine. Ati nothing.

Suggestions?

Tom

Re: ATI 650 problems

I'm in the same boat. I just installed an ATI 650 and no digital channels analog S-Video works great but I had the same idea that Tom had. Snapstream says it supports this card I wonder what happened?

Re: ATI 650 problems

It's really frustrating. The 650 is supposed to be the great new thing.

Doesn't work in the ATI application either, so it isn't unique to BTV.

Make sure you're using the right input on the ATI card.

There's one coax input for Digital antenna and FM radio, the other is for analog antenna or analog cable.

Yes, I know. I'm using the right one, but tried them both, just to be sure. Tried a different antenna too. Tried newer drivers. Tried, tried, tried

Re: ATI 650 problems

Has anyone got the ATI 650 to work? I was really anxious add it to my BTV server.

Thanks

No I still haven't gotten it to work yet with snapstream or ati software! A notice in the 650 box said, Do not return this to the store call ati tech first we can help. this thing either works or it doen't. I'll give it a few more days then back to best buy it goes. Good luck everyone!

Re: ATI 650 problems

Did the card come with catalyst MMC. There is a review and pic of it over at hot hardware http://www.hothardware.com/forum/mes...&enterthread=y

FWIW, the card seemed to work for them in MCE.

Re: ATI 650 problems

I'm about to return mine. Doesn't work with Catalyst MMC OR BTV. ATI won't even reply to tech support emails and their phone line is ALWAYS busy. I suspect a major problem here.

As a matter of fact NO it didn't, which set off red flags with me. The whole point of the card is to have TWO TUNERS.

'Digital Tuner not detected in Window XP MCE'

I was hoping it was due to being an early release or something. At best, it sounds like an updated driver is needed.

After all the hype from ATI, it apparently *DOESN'T* work out of the box as promised.

Re: ATI 650 problems

I just got a reply from SS tech support that the Theatre 650 for HD is not supported. This is contrary to the specifications page and surprising as BTV finds the card, just no channels.

ATI is worthless. It's been almost 3 days and still no reply to my tech support query.

Had some miscommunication. The Theater 650 is supported for HD and analog operation in BTV. Support has been there since at least version 4.3.

They cards we have do channel scans just fine, so you guys may just have bad cards.
