USB-UIRT stops working after a while

Hi all. Wanted to see if anyone else is having the same problem I am with the USB-UIRT.

Some background on my system:

I built a dual emitter cable that plugs into the mini plug on the USB-UIRT. I created zone files that allows me to control my 2 Scientific Atlanta cable boxes from a single USB-UIRT. I am running MCE with all of the latest updates. All MCE services are disabled. I am running the latest - BTV 4.2. I have 2 PVR-250's.

The dual IR setup has been working flawlessly for several months. About 1 month ago, the IR channel changing stopped working. When I reboot the PC, it works again, and continues to work for around 24 hours, and then stops working. I have been restarting my machine every couple of days. It is inconsistent, but seems to stop working after 24 to 36 hours.

I have updated the USB-UIRT drivers to 1.4, and updated BTV to 4.2, but this had no impact. This problem existed before these updates.

Could this be some Microsoft Windows update? I couldn't correlate when it started with a particular set of Windows updates.

Does anyone else have a new problem with their USB-UIRT stopping sending IR? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The only time I've had issues with the USB-UIRT is when I use it on a crummy USB hub... to fix the issue, I attached the USB-UIRT directly to a USB port on my PC. Not sure if this will help you or not, but worth a try if you have that option.

Thanks for the tip, Geoff. It is plugged into the motherboard USB port on the back of the machine, but I will try another port just in case. I suppose I could have a bad one. Wish I didn't have to wait 2 days to find out if that's it.

bender, mine stops working occasionally too. Its a basic setup controlling one sat box, and receiving all signals for the PC. It just completely stops for no reason. I have to go into girder, and this could be the problem!? and unload the uirt plugin and reload it. Then it starts again. Annoying though.

Thanks, Jamie. I'm not using Girder, just the built-in BTV stuff. This only started about a month ago. Before that, it was flawless - ran for weeks on end untouched. Still trying to figure this out...
