Nothing works now
I will start out by saying Beyond Media is a waste of Harddrive space. I was 100% stable, and now every 1-2 weeks this thing locks up on me, with my event log saying Beyond Media is the application which messed it up. I know, I know, wrong forum.
2nd. Out of nowhere my BeyondTV just stopped working. Whey I try to play back files I get the 'This file is corrupt or the path *Blah Blah* no longer exists. When I try to watch LiveTV I get 'sorry, but we were unable to start viewing live TV. The feed may be disconnected *Blah Blah*'. I get a warning saying 'Beyond TV has detected that your default directory for new recordings,"", does not exist.' I have gone to the web admin to remove, create, set as default, all that. I have rebooted a few times. I am really not in the mood to reinstall this thing, as BeyondTV is starting to become more of a pain in the butt than it is worth. I noticed yesterday it appeared a windows update with security features installed itself. I uninstalled any recent windows updates, and have disabled the auto update feature. After further investigation, it appears almost all my settings have been set back to default. Show squeeze is disabled, smartskip is disabled, renderer is set to overlay instead of 3D. WTF ![]() Any suggestions? Last edited by gross; 03-05-2006 at 09:58 AM. |

Re: Nothing works now
How do you like that. It wont play in overlay mode at All, however in 3d Accelerated mode, it all seems to be fine again. Thanks for your suggestion. Now, why did all my settings revert to default?

Re: Nothing works now
I have the same issue with the same error messages. Overlay doesn't work, 3D does. Clearly the "file is corrupt" messages are not correct, some other kind of error is occuring. I thought it was something unique to my installation, but apparently others have this problem as well. I'd like a suggestion as well as I'd like to use Overlay to display HD (video card isn't fast enough to run HD in 3D mode).

Re: Nothing works now
I found something interesting after using Gspot to debug this issue. "ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder" was inserted in the video chain after the nvidia decoder I use. After uninstalling ffdshow, my Overlay mode worked again. Still, it seems that the BTV error message should have said something more accurate than claiming a corrupt or missing file. So, for others with this problem, use Gspot to determine if something unexpected is in the video chain (like ffdshow), and remove it.
