Question For Anyone Using Btv And Theatertek

have a question about the relationship between the 2. if i move the mpeg file that is recorded to another drive, so i have to keep the .xml file as well to make it work? i've noticed before that when i move the mpeg file to another drive, it won't play (can't recall if i tried windows player..this is for sure theatertek related though)...generally, i delete the .xml file after a shows done recording so there's just less things to see when looking for a show in my movie drive. it's no big deal to keep it if it's believed that will fix the issue..but if you can't move to another drive and run regardless, then screw it..i'll just delete the .xml and make sure i dont' move the file.

If you are talking of the chapter.xml file, it is only used for the smartchapters to skip commercials, so has no effect if you want to use another program such as TheaterTek to playback the video file...

Could you go into more details regarding what you are trying to do? Unless somehow your video files are getting corrupted when you are moving them, there is no reason why they should stop working when moved to a different location. Of course if that folder is not defined within BTV then it will not appear in its list of recordings, but apart from that...

Re: Question For Anyone Using Btv And Theatertek

ahhh..thanks for the explanation on the xml..it's simply transferring the file from one harddrive to another harddrive..so, then maybe that second drive is corrupting the files somehow...hmmmmmm. i have no problem recording them from beyond tv and playing back on same drive..and both drives are relatively new and i run the wd utility and they are in good shape.
