64 bit WM Encoder & BTV 4
When you install the 64 bit version of the Windows Media Encoder on XP x64 & BTV on the same PC, it will not play back MPG based recordings correctly.
Typically the playback will become centered screen right and with a default widescreen aspect.
Per Microsoft, the 64 bit version of WME changes some of the default behavior of any 32 bit programs relying on certain codecs. If 64 bit WME interferes with playback by a 32 bit program, they suggest using the 32 bit version of WME on x64.
***Checking further, I found that all recordings done after the 64 bit encoder package was installed are goofed...after I deinstalled the package, recordings in BTV 4 returned to normal. Lesson learned ********
