Losing Source Every Night
I've been running until the following problem for the past week or so. Each day when I try and watch "Live TV" from the menu I get the following error :
"There are no sources available on which to view Live TV. Please run the setup Wizard" I run the wizard and everything will work until the next day when I try and watch TV, then I'm back to the error. I've reinstalled BTV4.01 and the problem still recurs. My setup : - AthlonXP1600 - Gigabyte 7VRXP mobo - 1GB DDR 3200 Ram - Nvidia 5200 - Hauppauge PVR 250 I've logged a support ticket but am still waiting on a response. Thanks. Ruteger. |

Re: Losing Source Every Night
Do you allow BTV to shut down completely when your shut down your computer? I've only had errors like this a couple of times. Once I had accidentally shut down BTV before it has finished shutting down, and another time was when there was a power cut while BTV was running.

Re: Losing Source Every Night
I've had this problem also. I was just about to put a support ticket in when it mysteriously stopped happening.
StevenR's suggestion that it mat have to do with interrupted shutdowns may be valid. I have fairly frequent power outages and I have occasionally forced a shutdown of BTV. Mike |

Re: Losing Source Every Night
I'm having a similar problem. After a reboot everything works great. I can view LiveTV without a problem, but as soon as I record a show I start to get the error message that I need to run the setup wizard as soon as I try to record a second show or watch LiveTV. I'm not running any postprocessors after recording so am not sure what's up... I'll have to open a support ticket.

Re: Losing Source Every Night
I have had this problem in two situations. The first is when BTV didn't shut down cleanly. The second is when a tuner was going bad.

We all should be running with uninterrupted power supplies (UPS), so that when the power is loss, the UPS will notify the OS and the OS can then shut itself down along with BTV gracefully and store any memory data out to disk accordingly. This is why we should avoid doing a "hard" reboot - i.e. push the power button, we should always try to do a graceful shutdown/reboot first. If you are not already running with a UPS... try running with a UPS so that you can avoid the problem described here... |

Re: Losing Source Every Night
This doesn't explain my problem. I always shut down gracefully and most of the time exit BTV and wait for that to complete before shutting down my PC. BTV seems to work fine, LiveTV and recording, until i record my first show. As soon as the first show is recorded it gives me the "run setup wizard" error and doesn't appear to be able to talk to my card (ATI 650 with latest drivers) until I reboot again.

Instead of rebooting the OS, try doing a backup of BTV's configuration then restore the configuration from that zip file - it might be faster than a reboot of the OS. |
