BTV 4.1 very slow to load

I just formated my computer and installed BTV 4.1 for the first time, it work great jsut one problem. when I try to open it up, it takes a very long time to get passed the splash screen. It Takes about 40 seconds maybe even a minute, once its open it runs perfect.


Is there anything I can do, or is anybody having this problem. Thanks

It's pretty damn slow for me, dunno about 40 seconds, but it's deifnately the slowest loading app I have on my pc, and shutting down takes even longer... if I use windows to shutdown before remembering to close btv, btv can't even shut down before the timer finishes (even tho btv says be sure to ignore warning dialogs and shutdown).

The GUI opens a lot quicker once BTV is running in the system tray tho... but I guess that goes without saying.

i don't "think" it's any slower than it always was..but agree it's slow...it opens like it takes some huge amount of resources to do so. i've assume it's like windows startup and that's it's loading some drivers or "checking" against program behind the scenes whenever it loads..something is going on beyond a simple control panel open function, that's fer sure!

Are you referring to opening the interface once the app has been opened and exists in the system tray, or just starting it in general? If the later, then it will take sometime to start since it has to startup all its services. If just opening the interface take a long time, then not sure why that is. It opens pretty fast for me. I've noticed it takes longer to start the interface at higher resolutions. At 1080i it takes longer, but no where near as long as you describe. At 720p it's very fast.

I have the same problem and it's driving me nuts!! I have 4 machines running beyond tv and have had numerous configurations.. My latest after upgrading my main machine I gave my son a p4c800E deluxe asus mobo with 3.0 p4.. He has 1 gig of ram and and an radeon (maybe saphire x1600) Gui takes about a minute to load and then I have to go full screen wich takes another 30 seconds or so.. My other pcs I open and close that like any other program.. The machine I am having the problem with has plenty of power to perform beyond tv duties just something with the config... Pretty sure something with the ati driver in certain situations.. I had a gforce5500 inthe machine and I believe I didn't have the problem.. Anyone with Ideas would be much apreciated..

Are you guys seeing a slow video start too? My interface loads pretty fast, but when I try to go to either live TV or recorded video, sometimes the screen pops up instantaneously, sometimes it takes 30-40 seconds while the screen shows "starting video" or "starting live tv".

I've submitted a ticket, and supposedly they know where it's taking forever, but I haven't heard from tech support in a couple weeks, so I'm not sure if they're still working on it.

OK I have noticed that since upgrading to 4.2 BTV loads a little slower. Not much though.
The major problem I am having is that after the interface is loaded everything runs fine. Except when I go to watch a show. When I select the episode I want to watch it takes 30 to 60sec before it gets to the screen where I can select play.
After I get to the screen I can select play on it's another 30 to 60sec before it regesters that I selected play. than anothe 30 - 60sec delay before it plays the show.
So all in all it takes me about 3 min before I can watch a show verry anoying.
Anybody else have this problem? I have defragmented my hard drives and nothing else has changed since 4.1.

Have you checked if the drives are going to sleep (turning off) and the delay is the drives waking up. I have all of my internal drive set to run all the time but I have an external one that I let spin down and it takes a few seconds to come up and it causes a delay in BTV.

Thanks for the sugestion I actualy got it to work fine again this morning just by restarting the computer (allready had tried this but whatever) I 'm not sure what the problem was but it seems to be fine now.
