It came to my attention this afternoon -- that some users either didn't think about it -- or just overlooked it -- are exposing their machines to the outside world -- Sans Password Protection.
For those of you who want your BTV accessable from the net -- I would Strongly advise to set a password in Web Admin. This prevents unscrupulous users from making any modifications to your configurations -- or deleting all your recordings... you get the gist. To enable using a password to connect to your Beyond TV server, follow these steps: 1. http://BtvServerName:8129/SetupSecurity.aspx , replacing BtvServerName with the name of your Beyond TV server. 2. Choose Security -> Enabled 3. Type and confirm a password greater than four characters. 4. Click Save Changes Now, when you connect to the server with Beyond TV Link, you will be prompted to enter the password. To have Link automatically use the password -- add this to the command line: /networkclientpassword:xxxxxxx
