Help setting up quality..
I use a Hauppauge WinTV 150 and have just purchased BeyondTV4 and upgraded to 4.1.0
I can't achieve the same level of recording quality I did with the software that came with Hauppauge. The reason I switched is because the IR Blaster that came with the Hauppauge doesn't work with my cable box, so I bought a USB-UIRT. I'm running digital cable, currently through a coax cable, but I'm gonna try the SVIDEO soon. Second, if all I can record in is MPEG2 what settings should I use to get better quality?! If I use Overlay I can't adjust brightness, so I am using 3D with Hardware interlace. It gives me no picture unless I select hardware interlace. Here's my settings for BEST (DVD READY): in Web Admin: Average Video Bitrate: 7000 Variable Bitrate Encoding: No Stream Type: DVD Stream (I can also choose Program Stream or SVCD Stream) Then it has settings that say: Hardware Encoder Settings (The following settings are only applied to supported hardware encoders.) Bidirectional (Interpolative) Frames Per Group 0 1 2 -- it's set at 2 Predictive Frames Per Group 0 1 2 3 4 5 -- it's set at 5 ... I don't mind if I have to record into MPEG2 because later I can convert to XVID with Vidomi. I do that to save space. I just want better quality input. I edited this post.. I don't mind converting into DIVX/XVID because I see the problems on the forum people are having recording right into DIVX. Last edited by yuppicide; 01-25-2006 at 07:04 PM. |

Re: Help setting up quality..
For PQ tweaking read this thread:
Setting up BTV The reason you cannot record to Dvix or WMV is that you have a hardware encoding card. No way to change how it is going to output the captured video. There are Dvix capture cards but I believe only Plextor makes those. You can Showsqueeze (transcode) to another format if you like but some people are having problems with Dvix in 4.0 and 4.1. Good Luck
