MediaMVP and BTV skin error

I just bought a MediaMVP to setup as a BTV media client for my bedroom. I downloaded and installed the latest beta driver v2.5.23242 from http://www.shspvr.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=41. The MVP worked fine at this point.

I then downloaded and installed the MediaMVP BTV v3.5 Interface v0.2.5 from sourceforge.net. Then I pasted my BTV4.0 key into the NEWuser_config.js file. Since my BTV server does not require a password to access it, I figured I was done with the setup.

When I start the MVP now, I receive the following error after it contacts the server:

"Runtime Error
File: file://C:\Program Files\Hauppauge MediaMVP\Users\00-0D-FE-00-7F-BD\Media.html
Line: 15
Error: 'usePal' is undefined
"

Is BTV4.0 compatible with the current BTV 3.5 skin from sourceforge.net? I have reverted back to the factory hauppauge MVP skin for now. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

Re: MediaMVP and BTV4 skin error

I finally figured is out.

All I had to do is rename the "NEWuser_config.js" file to "user_config.js". Now the BTV skin for the MVP works great.

Re: MediaMVP and BTV4 skin error

When you say your media MVP doesn't change channels, does that mean that live tv works with your MVP?

If so, I would assume that your BTV server changes channels fine. The MVP doesn’t change channels, right?

From your profile it appears that you are using BTV v3.5 on your server. If so, I am uncertain how configure your MVP experience since I am using BTV v4.0 server with the BTV v3.5 (sourceforge.net) skin for the MVP.

For BTV v4.0 users there is a “guide.htm” attachment to download that can be found on the snapstream forums. This allows Live TV to work for BTV v4.0 with the MVP BTV skin v3.5 from sourceforge.net.

Re: MediaMVP and BTV4 skin error

Thanks for the reply port Cross673! Yes, my live TV does work with the BTV v3.5 (sourceforge.net) skin for the MVP, and I recently upgraded to BTV3.74. I have downloaded the BTV4 version but I haven't installed it yet. I'm kinda afraid to do it since everything I have works. I saw a few post out there that are saying that they are having problems with the Media skin after they had upgraded to BTV4. I guess I will get around to it sooner or later (probably sooner). You mentioned that you can download “guide.htm” for BTV4 users. Where might one get this?

Have a safe and happy holiday!

Re: MediaMVP and BTV4 skin error

I would go ahead and install BTV v4.0 right over the top of BTV v3.74. You should have no problems. I didn't have any problems whatsoever. If you do choose to install BTV v4.0, I have attached the guide.htm file that fixes live tv for the MVP BTV skin.

All you have to do is unzip this file and overwrite you existing "guide.htm" file with this new one. It should be located in 'C:\Program Files\Hauppauge MVP". This is only a temporary fix for BTV v4.0 users until the next version of the BTV skin is release from sourceforge.net. I heard it would be after the holidays.

In any case, we still haven't addressed your original problem. Why your MVP won't change channels on your BTV server? Did you ever get this working?
