BTV4: No Guide Data for Digital OTA Channels

ATI HDTV Wonder running latest drivers dated 06/09/05 from ATI's website.

BTV 4.0.

Great signal strength on all stations - 80% to 95%.

All OTA channels display "Unavailable" for all timeslots in the EPG.

When I was using the ATI MMC with my HDTV Wonder I was able to see guide data from PSIP - so not sure if BTV is setup to get the data from PSIP or other sources.

When you log into snapstream.net do you have a lineup there?

When I setup BTV4 I scanned in the stations rather than create a new lineup on snapstream.net - hence the lack of guide data. Once I created a new lineup on snapstream.net and had my OTA card source use that lineup, I have guide data!!!

This is not acceptable though. You should be able to view the PSIP data from a DTV channel, in addition to the snapsteam setups. I work at a television station and use my ATI HD card here. I cannot check the PSIP data on our signal with Beyond TV because it doesn't know how to deal with it. I would strongly recommend adding the ability to view PSIP metadata in a future patch, since more and more tuner cards are going to be HD/DTV compatable. I'm going to have remove Beyond TV and install ATI's utterly horrible software just so I can monitor the PSIP data coming off the antenna.

I agree it'd be nice, but if snapstream.net has correct data, why does it matter? Do you really want two seperate places to find your epg data? Isn't half of the joy being able to use snapstream.net to schedule recordings? If you use PSIP data snapstream.net won't see that and you'll lose half of the benefits.

Of course PSIP data is likely to be more accurate and up to date; but I've never really found that a problem...
