Question USB-UIRT Comcast 6200 & Comcast Program Guide

Hi all,

I have two questions:

1) I have a motorola 6200 cable box and a USB-UIRT IR blaster. The blaster does change the channel, but the issue I have is once the channel is changed the comcast tv guide is on screen. I have to either wait for it to tome out and clear, or use the comcast remote exit button. I change the chanel manually by entering the number and pressing enter, but it seem the IR blaster does the funtion different as the guide does not come up and I see the digits I enter show on the screen prior to the channel change - this does not happen when using the usb-UIRT

2) Can someone point me to a thread on how to setup the USB-UIRT to control two motorola boxes? One is a HD DVR and the other is a simple cable box. I can't seem to find out how to have the IR control one and leave the other alone.

Thanks,

Greg

I see that I posted this in the wrong section. Can an admin move it or should I repost?

Question USB-UIRT, Motorola 6200, Comcast Program Guide

Hi all,

I have two questions:

1) I have a motorola 6200 cable box and a USB-UIRT IR blaster. The blaster does change the channel, but the issue I have is once the channel is changed the comcast tv guide is on screen. I have to either wait for it to time out and clear, or use the comcast remote exit button. When I change the chanel manually by entering the number and pressing enter I see the digits show in the screen as I enter them and the program guide does not come up. When USB-UIRT changes the channel, the digits do not show on the screen and I get the program guide. So I assume the ir blaster is adding something or it just works differently.

2) Can someone point me to a thread on how to setup the USB-UIRT to control two motorola boxes? One is a HD DVR and the other is a simple cable box. I can't seem to find out how to have the IR control one and leave the other alone.

Thanks,

Greg

The solution for the first problem is to go through the BTV setup wizard again. There's a screen I think after you choose to use the USB-UIRT, or maybe after you select the cable box, at any rate there is an option to pad the channels a certain number. The 6200 box doesn't go into the thousands, so you want to select a three digit pad, i.e. "1" becomes "001". On the same screen, deselect the box to press enter after entering these keys, as the comcast box will already change once three digits have been entered. It's this enter key that causes the program guide to appear.

As for the multiple boxes, I can't help much, I know it has to do with zoning and you will probably require a program like girder.

Re: USB-UIRT, Motorola 6200, Comcast Program Guide

Thanks Brian,

I have not been traveling and am just now getting back to solving this problem. I did figure out the 3 number deal, but missed the box press enter opiton. i will give that a try.

I suppose I should go search/post at the USB-UIRT forums for the other problem.

The best place for this info is here http://www.usbuirt.com/support.htm they can lead you through setting this up. Normaly they recomend using stick on IR emiters and modifing a few files.

Re: USB-UIRT Comcast 6200 & Comcast Program Guide

Did you ever get this sorted as I have exactly the same problem and I'm convinced it only started happening when I upgraded to BTV 4 so I'm not sure about it being the USB-UIRT

Thanks
