help recording digital and analog channels

So I figure I need two tuners.
I have a hauppauge 250 (980) and my time warner digital cable will allow me to record the 1-101 channels cuz they are in analog. The upper channels are all digital.

I like the fact that the 250 has encoding on it, and the fact that it is hauppague.
I see that on newegg they have a 250MCE that says you can watch digital but it is the MCE one. Could it work for me even though I do not use MCE?
They also show a wintv-pvr 150 that says it has digital VCR. Is that gonna capture digital channels?
And what is up with the nexus and nova's?

I am not really interested in getting another cable box and using the IR.
would rather have two tuner cards to handle the full spectrum.
I do not use it to watch TV that often, just capture shows that I burn to DVD

So if anybody has any suggestions that could steer me in the right direction, that would be great.

BTW I love ig cutter/processor. thanks so much whoever did that. And BTV kicks butt.

Re: help recording digital and analog channels

the software and hardware capture cards do not decode digital cable channels.

You will need your set top box to decode those still. There is next to no difference between 150,250,500 and mce flavours as far as what inputs/decoding they support. They only accept analog inputs, RF, composite or svideo.

Sorry
