What bitrate ("quality") do you record with?

How much RAM do you have?

What is your disk drive configuration? (IE, what drive(s) have the OS, what do you record to? What type of drive? (SATA, PATA, etc)

What version of BTV are you running?

Do you use 3D Accelerated Mode or Overlay mode? (Try Overlay)

Do you use ExclusiveFS mode? (Try it - search the KB for it)

What Codec do you use? (SnapStream Basic? NVidia Purevideo?)

What OS and service pack are you running at?

What version of DirectX 9.0 (b or c) are you using?

Do you have any antivirus installed? Is it "autoprotecting" your recordings?

Does the Windows Device Manager show any problems with hardware? (IE, any items with an "!" mark?)

Are you overclocking anything?

Do you have any other programs working in the backround? IE, is this machine dedicated to BTV?

What quality are you recording in? Thats what I mean by bitrate.

Try to answer all of the questions I've asked you, even if they seem trivial. It may shed some light for some of the users on the board to help you solve the problem.

Re: Help- Jerky playback

I'm having a similar problem where recordings will randomly pause and randomly jump ahead 10-30 seconds. When it pauses, the recording usually loses a few seconds. This happens when live recording and when playing back an old recording.

BTV 3.7.4 b2507
WinXP SP2
DirectX 9c
p4 3.2 ghz 1gb ram
GeForce4 Ti 4800
Hauppauge USB2-PVR

Drives:
PATA 60gb - OS
SATA Raid 5 600gb - storage (smart squeeze)
PATA 230gb - Recording drive

Codec: SnapStream Basic
Mode: Overlay

I had some jerky playback and changing my decoder to "basic" and deinterlacing to "none" fixed my problems... actually the deinterlacing is what fixed it but then setting the decoder to basic eliminated any other jerky issues I had.

Re: Help- Jerky playback

I too, have previously had stutter and jerking problems with btv. I noticed that in task manager one of btv processes was spiking at close to 100% cpu usage. After I found the file (pvs library application perhaps), I disabled this in the admin page.
Also, I swiched to overlay, added a graphics card (instead of onboard default), and defragged my drive where I keep all recorded shows.
I've also tried many fixes that didn't work, but slowly everything has improved, thanks to the forum community. Good luck

Re: Help- Jerky playback

use Overlay & set De-interlace Control: Automatic

That setting fixed shuttering for me.

install the latest decoder if you haven't from here:
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_do...150-trial.html

whenever you're playing mpeg-2, a nvidia tray icon will appear in the system tray. Double click, and config your settings from there.
