Microsoft MPEG4 Support?

I noticed Microsoft MPEG4 V3 is listed as an option in SmartSqueeze. However, when I select it, BTV won't perform SmartSqueeze. Is this supported, and is there something I should be doing to make this work? I sure would like to be able to compress my shows in better quality than WMV provides.
