Media Player 7

Does this software work with the media tools 7.0? I have Media Encoder 7.00.00.2965 installed with a WinTV card on a Win98 machine, it will record video with Media encoder, however it errors using snapStream. The configuration page says that it does not appear that I have Media Tools installed and I get this from the console:
---------------------------------------------
[9/4/2000 23:20:53] Slave: Received execute command for "SnapStream Diagnostic T
est".

LT401Vette,

Beta 2b does not support Windows Media Encoder 7.0; however, we already have support for it in our latest in-house builds. You can expect support to be featured for it in the next beta.

In the meantime, if you install Windows Media Tools (V4.1), you'll have better luck. =)

It seems as though Microsoft has erased Media Tools 4.1 from the planet. Every link to download Media Tools seems to lead me to Media Encoder 7

That's a problem. =)

If you can hold on for a day or two, we'll release the next beta which will support both Windows Media Encoder 7 and direct capture.

OK, I've downloaded the newest version and the newest Media Encoder v7. The only time I can record anything is when I use 4.1. Fine, except I can only record one show per reboot. All other recording attempts show up as completed in the console, but Ssd generates an invalid page fault. How do I get v7 to work?

Cheers

Well, as mentioned in the release notes, the different versions of Windows Media Encoder have some pretty big stability issues under Windows 95/98/ME. It's highly recommended that you select Windows Media Format 7 capture method under these operating systems.

If you can give more details about the problem you are experiencing under direct capture, we'll hopefully be able to isolate and fix the problem.

In particular, the activity log will help to track down the problem is most cases.

If I leave 1.3b running, it brings my system to a hault. When I come back to my computer I am unable to start any new programs without the error message You do not have enough resources to run this application, please close one or more applications. Snapstream seems to be the app that does it. I went back to 1.2 and all is well again, except it is not recording sound any more. That I'll have to figure out.
