DirecTV D10-300 Receiver
Just upgraded to DirecTV's new D10-300 multi-satellite receiver (manufacturer unknown). Hooked up the serial cable to the "Low Speed Data" port (after modifiying with a RJ6 phone plug). Will not work;was working with an old Sony reciever. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: DirecTV D10-300 Receiver
yo thudguy
been watching your post and you dont seem to be getting many replies so here goes my venture into the infamous d10-300 sat box after many hours of beating and i do mean beating these thing into submission including the little applet for controling the dtv boxes no luck whatsoever(over the low speed data port) the ir blaster didn't seem a viable option because if i cant get my haymony remotes to control them i don't think an ir blaster is going to do much better(just my 2 cents so after much research the plain off the shelf d10 from circuit city seemed to be the best option. so with a little trepadation i picked one up at the local cc.called to have the box activated reran the s.s set and low and behold ss was talking to it, evertime i would change the channel the box would reboot so half way there. there is a known problem with the dtv boxes with reboot with channel change so into the kb we go. a search for dtv boxes that work ss and the foot note about reboot issue and downloaded the replacment control file and low and behold everything worked great, but wait caution this file is intended for use with only single box installations o shoot ok lest try two boxes what's the worst that can happen,so one more trip to cc for box number 2,brought it home hooked it up,reran ss setup and look at that it works so in short the d10 box made by rca for dtv everything is fine it cost me another $140.00 (50 per box and 20 for the for low speed data cables) but it works. if your going to use2 dtv boxes pay attention to wich comport controls what box and tuner card all should be fine if you should have any more questions just pm me and i will try to help out the best i can loren

Re: DirecTV D10-300 Receiver
I had the same problem after upgrading to D10-300 from RCA DRD420RE using the serial port tuning. Bought the USB-UIRT device tried and failed until I saw this post for MythTV http://mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-u...er/107586.html. Apparently if you upgrade the firmware on the D10-300 using the instructions on the mythtv website I was able make it work using the same cable I used for the RCA receiver and using the serial tuning in the BTV setup wizard and the D10-100 as the model for my receiver. So far I can change the channel which is the only thing I needed to record so that is fine by me for now.
btw. I originally bought the serial tuning cable from snapstream designed for the RCA receiver. |
