License / Functionality Question

I'm trying to modify my setup so that the BTV recording engine and recorded shows are on one (server) machine and the interface is on another (client) machine. I know I can do this with BTV Link but I want to avoid buying a BTV license. I also know I can get BTV Link functionality by starting the BTV interface with the /networkclient parameter.

The problem I am having is that if I install BTV on two machines using the same license key the /networkclient trick does not work. My guess is that BTV doesn't like the fact that both instances are using the same key.

Is there a way to get this to work? I do not think I am violating the license agreement since I have no intention (or ability) to run the BTV interface on the server. I simply want to take the functionality I've paid for and split it between two machines

Is there any way to legally do this?

Re: License / Functionality Question

No -- not really. That is the reason we created Link.

Re: License / Functionality Question

I was afraid you'd say that but I figured asking wouldn't hurt

Re: License / Functionality Question

Bnflaherty is correct: This is the reason for Link.
