Recording on-demand programs
I have comcast digital cable and they have recently added "free" on-demand programing. These are usally older movies offered for a limited time.
The problem is that I haven't figured out a way to easily record these shows. Here's how you watch one. Press channel 0 (or the 'on-demand' button on their remote) Use the direction/arrow keys to find the movie you want Press OK on the remote Read the synopsis Select the Play option (arrow keys) Press OK on the remote Watch (with pause, RW, FF). Of course there isn't a way to schedule a recording because you have to scroll the list and select the movie, but you can't do it via Live TV either because BTV doesn't send arrow / OK commands to the motorola STU (via serial cable). Any ideas on how to record these shows? Is it possible to set a record duration when you start recording Live TV (like on a vcr)? Thanks, Ken |

Re: Recording on-demand programs
This is pretty easy to do this particular operation with the web admin, but I don't think it's possible with the viewscape. Just connect to http://localhost:8129 on the BeyondTV machine and select "record now" -- it won't bother with the "record this show now" nonsense; it just has a channel, time, and tuner selection.
