PVR-250 trick on PVR150

Did anybody tried the CC(closed Caption) trick on PVR 150 (the regedit one) ?
I was thinking to add a new tuner and save some money in the process.
Any actual experiences ?

Re: PVR-250 trick on PVR150

I'm pretty sure the MCE drivers don't support the CC trick. I've not come across any reported cases of it working and the 500MCE drivers definitely won't. (same drivers as the 150 virtually).

You're better off with the pvr250 if you need it right away, or waiting a month or two.

Actually if you read his post more stringently you'll see that

a) the 'caskof...' site he refers to talks about setting up the 250 not 150. (and is down right now apparantly...)

b) He says 'maybe that's why hauppauge disabled it' and he wants it very much. I infer that to mean that he doesn't have it working ont he 150 and misses it ...

I have spoken to hauppauge and searched the driver files and found no reference to the InsertCCinDVD key and hauppauge have stated NO plans to release non MCE drivers with this support. MCE uses the VBI pins not the embedded CC data and so anything that hauppauge releases for MCE has no use for the embedded CC Stream BTV, sage and gbpvr all use.

SS (and other pvr's) need to switch to use the same VBI pins as does MCE, or we have to wait for Hauppauge to release non mce drivers 8(

Alternatively, we hack the hell out of the card and write our own drivers/firmware! Not going to happen ....!
