Unhappy Program Guide Data

It appears that these issues are not the problem as others are starting to post concerning the same problem with Guide Data.

I can no longer view the Program Guide Data. It says it downloads successfully but nothing ever shows in the Guide. Two things happened recently which are probably contributing to the problem. Somehow the date on my Computer was changed to November 2005 and the other day the Computer experienced the dreaded Blue Screen of Death. The date change created the main problem I think. Any suggestions for correcting this problem.

Thanks.

Jim

Re: Program Guide Data

Once you fix the date and time, try forcing a program guide download.

Re: Program Guide Data

I have, numerous times. The Guide DB file looks good. It has all the information as far as I can tell. I've got two machines. One works and the other doesn't. I've even copied the DB from the good one to the one that doesn't work, no change. I even renamed the DB file and it is recreated when I do the download, still no change. They are both running the same version of BTV (3.52). One is running Norton's 2004 and the other (that doesn't work) 2005. Not sure if that is making a difference or not. I noticed someone else started a thread with the same problem. I wonder if they run nortons?

Re: Program Guide Data

Do you have two separate server keys?

Re: Program Guide Data

No. I use the one for beta's and a backup system. Hope that is legal.

Re: Program Guide Data

That may explain why you're having issues.

(Edit. - BTW, no, it's not legal, it's a violation of the Eula)

Re: Program Guide Data

I think using the same key on two machines would certainly explain the issue.

Setting it to the right date is probably a good thing, too.

Re: Program Guide Data

Is that a recent change?

I know the date was a problem and thought there was some residual issues until I noticed a few others are experiencing the same thing.

I'll delete the one then or buy another license. When I read the EULA something made me think that what I was doing was okay. I'll get that corrected pronto!!!

Re: Program Guide Data

Okay. I have another key now. I've done the install but the snapstream account info doesn't seem to take. Does that take a while? I can't enter my other one, of course, because it is already used for my other machine. I can do the setup over and over with the new one and it doesn't think it exists. Also, What do people do who only have one email account?

Re: Program Guide Data

I realize it easy to get another account but it seems odd (and a lot of hassle maintaining) that one is forced to do this to simply access one's snapstream.net account from multiple machines.

In any event, it isn't an issue for me but so far it hasn't helped the problem a single bit, actually it has made it worse. At least before it acted like it was working and I could login with my other e-mail address. Now I can't do anything with snapstream.net for my new license.

Jim

P.S. Hope this doesn't sound too sharp. I think I have the flu and am somewhat delirious :-) Maybe that is the problem.

Re: Program Guide Data

Good News...Sort of...I can now see the Program Guide Data but I get no video/audio. Is 22254 the latest drivers that will work or should 22292 work?

I guess I should also mention...It works fine under WinTv.

Re: Program Guide Data

Well that is odd. The setup didn't work but I decided to go ahead and setup my recordings while I waited on a response and since one is happening now it started up. I stopped it and then for grins-n-giggles I decided to look at it expecting "snow". Instead it seems to be recording properly.

Must be the fever...
