How do I make the Guide button bring up the transparent guide?

I know hitting the E button on the keyboard brings up the transparent guide on BTV but hitting the Guide bitton on my Hauppauge 45 button remote brings up the regular guide.

How do I change this so that the Guide button brings up the transparent guide?

How are you controlling BTV? If you are using Girder, all you would have to do is change the Guide command to send the 'E' key instead of what it now sends. However, doing this will possibly disable the ability to get the guide from any other context.

Also, you have to be in 3d accelerated mode rather than overlay for the guide to be transparent.

wolfiecritter is right in that if you remap the key you'll lose the guide if not in the Live TV mode. I remapped the Menu(i) key for the transparent display. You will need to edit the irremote.ini file in the c:\windows directory.

under the [Beyond TV] section look for Menu (or other suitable key) and change the value to e, save, restart IR and that should be that.

If you have any question on editing the file there are several posts on editing for the Hauppauge remote .. Just search for it.

I am doing the same thing. I hate leaving live tv for the guide.
