video/audio sync problem

The last couple of mpeg2s made with Beyond TV have video/audio sync issues - the audio is is ahead of the video, and the problem seems to get worse as the show plays (seems like the case). Also, I use Videoredo to take out commercials, and the edited mpeg2 seems worse than the unedited one. Thoghts?

Re: video/audio sync problem

Is this happening on a PVR250 hardware encoder or are you doing software encodes?

PVR250 - and it started out of the blue, i.e. no problems a few days ago.

I see you have a decoder choice in the settings. Should it be set to Snapstream Basic?

Does this tell anything - from the log:

[1/11/2005 21:50:07] Setting MPEG-2 audio sampling rate to: 48000 Hz
[1/11/2005 21:50:07] Setting MPEG-2 audio bitrate to: 224000
[1/11/2005 21:50:07] Setting MPEG-2 stream type to MPEG2 DVD Stream.

Snapstream Basic did not work well for me. Don't recall what the problem was, but InterVideo worked a lot better. Haven't tested the others.

I use MPEG2 Program Stream, but admit to not knowing what either one is.

I got the opposite problem the other day (video 1 second ahead of audio), and would (not quite) swear that it only seemed to affect one channel.

Maybe i should try the WinTV2000 and see if it happens with that - if so, I'll know it's not a Snapstream problem.

Looks like it's fixed - but I'm not sure why...Actually, I know why, just not exactly how...

Re: video/audio sync problem

Did you try it with WinTV2000 (you said you were going to, but didn't post the result). If it works in WinTV2000, then it must be a setting in BTV

Yes, sorry, same thing. But again, same problem with all vers. of BTV - and before about a week ago, never any issues. Really strange. That's why I'm thinging it's the card - can they go bad?

Re: video/audio sync problem

They can go bad. You should check to see if it is still under warranty.

Re: video/audio sync problem

Also might want to try to remove and reset the card.
