Streaming stops after 5 minutes *Workaround*

It seems to be a pretty well documented issue here, with many users posting their issue here. When streaming video online through the WebAdmin, going through Windows Media Player for me, the video stops after 5 minutes. It seems to be a 5 minute server timeout issue or something, because as soon as the video stops you can restart it immediately, but it starts from the beginning.

I have gotten around this server timeout issue using Firefox. After the video starts playing I set the webadmin to Auto Reload after every 2 minutes (You will need the Tab Browser extension to do this). This stops the whole server timeout issue.

When will this be fixed???

Does anyone NOT have this problem? If someone doesn't please post your specs and settings because I was under the impression that everyone had this problem.

Is this only with Live TV?
Does this also happen when you use Internet Explorer?
If it only happens in Firefox, I think there may be Javascript code in the Live TV page that is not supported in Firefox. The page sends regular "keep alive" signals to keep the stream going.
There is a similar problem with streaming to a Pocket PC - I created an alternative page that works on the Pocket PC (using a different way of sending the "keep alive" signals).
The page may also fix any problems with accessing it in Firefox, so I will upload it later.

I’m going to bet that’s exactly what the issue is.

Thats weird. I could've sworn I used to be able to stream whole shows with no windows open but Windows Media Player...

I'll try with Internet Explorer when I get home.

The keepalive thing in the webpage is only when trying to stream live tv. The recorded shows should stream just fine even if you close out the webpage.

Not true!

If you are watching any pre-recording video thru the web interface (launching windows media player) and close the browser after five minutes the video will disconnect.

Re: Streaming stops after 5 minutes *Workaround*

Would there be a snowball's chance in hell this issue is being addressed in the upcoming 3.5.2 release? The sticky post regarding the 3.5.2 release says I shouldn't assume that that it hasn't been looked at or addressed yet just because it isn't listed. However, since it doesn't mention this particular issue and multiple users are experiencing the problem, it would be really nice to hear some "official" comments on it.

Personally, I'm running into it using my h4155 iPaq using its 802.11b wireless networking, when trying to stream ShowSqueezed videos. Refreshing the library page every so often (less than 5 minute intervals) seems to let the video keep playing, but if I stop doing this, after about 5 minutes the streaming stops.

Re: Streaming stops after 5 minutes *Workaround*

Through the WebAdmin interface Live TV works fine for me. I have a regular ATI PCI TV tuner card. But for pre-recorded shows adn WebAdmin, the stream will terminate after 5 minutes. I too was hoping for a fix, but I don't think it will happen because they probably want you to purchase the BeyondTV link program. For the PDA users (like me too) it's very frustrating.

But for most users that use a PC to view the video there is a less likely chance that they will address the issue as it may take away from Beyond TV Link sales. By not confirming and acknowleding the error exists only leads me to that suspicion. It may be due to another reason but they have not communicated that to us. I have reported map drive errors (shows not being updated in recorded list) and they have acknowledged the issue so I don't see why they just don't indicate the streaming is a problem.

I wouldn't be asking this if I was able to find it after searching for a while... but could you please tell me where I can get your workaround? I've seen other people mention it here and on some other pda forums but I can't find where I can get your page lol

thanks

Re: Streaming stops after 5 minutes *Workaround*

Here is my Workaround #2 -- as I created an alternate Library page -- but this solution is a little easier..

Download this simple program: http://www.markwell.btinternet.co.uk/webmon/webmon.exe

Once installed, configure it following these steps:
------
Click Page

Add New

http://localhost:8129/AppManagement.aspx

Description: Keep Stream On

Change Minutes: to 2

Change Days: to 0

Hit OK

Click File -- Minimize to Tray
