DirecTV Setup/Installation question?

Hello everyone. I am planning on purchasing one of the following DirecTV receivers: Sony SAT-B55, RCA NRD215ND, RCA DRD420RE, RCA DRD430RGA and get one of the cable packs for the corresponding receiver from SnapStream.com.

Basically my questions are that if I already have my basic cable routed through my one PVR-250, do I need to get another one to have full BTV control on whichever receiver I end up getting? What would be the best way with hooking this receiver up to the card? Should I have a coax go from the Receiver to the cable in on the PVR-250, or would I just have the R/L RCA Audio and either Composite or S-Video coming from the receiver to the corresponding inputs on the PVR-250? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I also read here about BTV not being able to read the Pay-Per-View channels/events from DirecTV properly? I will only be using this for NFL Sunday Ticket (I don't care about other programming packages because where I live Basic cable is included in my association fees), so would the EPG have a problem reading it, if so is there a fix for it?

Hi,

I use BTV with DirecTv and an RCA DRD435 receiver. The cable pack works great and there is never any worry about using IR blasters, etc. I have my directTv hooked up through coax to my PVR250 out of convenience (already had coax running into the other room where my computer is), but I would suggest using the s-video and stereo inputs for best quality.

If you want to use both your DirecTv and cable inputs simultaneously, then you should get a second tuner (pvr250 for best results).

I'm not sure about he Sunday ticket info on the epg since I don't get Sunday ticket and I hide those channels. I'll try to add the channels later and see if the program data is there.

Hi. Sunday ticket games show up in the guide, it's only PPV movies that don't. You can use an external XMLTV guide for that. Someone is supposed to be working on a PPV importer. There was one for 3.4, and if I remember correctly they were working on 3.5 but had a few questions for the developers. Hopefuly it will be here soon.

Thank you very much!! I appreciate your response answering all of my questions! You might happen to be able to answer this for me, I have the PVR-250MCE which is the Encoder-16, would the PVR-250BTV that is sold through Snapstream.com work with this one without a problem?

Don't know that one...I purchased all of my tuners at the same time...

Sorry, I only have one tuner so I don't know about tuner mixing compatibility. A search should turn up some results. I know I've read posts about this issue before.
