Hi All
As everybody knows The PVR-350 only recognizes overlay images from media playback, in conjunction with its hardware MPEG-2 decoder, for use with its TV-OUT. As a result, the PVR-350 will only show MPEG-2 output through that TV-OUT. So what Hardware do I need to get a Dedicated TV-out for Beyond TV? (I want to have a normal Desktop XP with Beyond TV running on a dedicated TV-OUT in that way I can still use the PC as a normal PC and I can use a remote to control Beyond TV on the televison! I Hope somebody can suggest a Setup that can accomplish this? Best Regards Casperse |

Re: Dedicated Beyond TV-OUT solutions?
About a year ago I fought trying to do this for months and can only recommend that you NOT waste your time. Although I was able to get things working to some extent, once my wife and/or kids touched the computer things would get messed up (windows popping up on the wrong display, problems with video editing programs not behaving nicely, etc). If you're a techie and noone else will be using the computer/tv you can use any of the newer video cards with tv-out (I tried both nvidea and ati). However, if you plan on using SnapStream regularly as a central part of you home theater or entertainment center, I can't recommend highly enough just saving/spending the money on a dedicated Snapstream machine.

Re: Dedicated Beyond TV-OUT solutions?
DAAM!
That sounds like its a No NO then! But I guess I can run my programs in the background. And have BeyondTV running on the screen. I didnt think about the remote control problem if I useed a secondary screen output I can see how that would mess it up. There would be no "center point" for the remote I am a techie but my girlfriend would need to operate the "VCR" fea. Can you tell me if I can use the TV-out on the 350 to play the MPEG recorded material from within beyondTV? or is just a feat. in the Hauppage software? Thanky for your input you have saved me alot of time and frustration Last edited by casperse; 10-13-2004 at 01:27 AM. |

Re: Dedicated Beyond TV-OUT solutions?
People on the web using the SAGEtv software claims to be able to get the GUI out on the 350 TV-out and still keep the XP desktop intact?
But dont know how that would affect the RF remote setup? |

Re: Dedicated Beyond TV-OUT solutions?
It seems that
Snapstream is experimenting with OS on the 350 TV-out http://www.byopvr.com/Sections+index...-2-page-2.html Menu’s/On Screen Display of your PVR software through the PVR350’s TV out. I asked a Hauppauge representative about it and they said: Jeff Kardatske demonstrated the SageTV UI on a TV set using the WinTV-PVR-350 at the CES show in January. So I know that they have this running as part of SageTV. I thought that Snapstream showed me this when I visited them last month. Making the UI appear on the TV set is not difficult. There is a video overlay which you can write to which makes stuff appear over the TV. It does not do blending, but as for an overlay it works just fine. Hauppauge will add the UI to the WinTV-PVR-350 in the future. But I'm not sure exactly when. It depends upon when our engineers can get to it. |
