That doesn't mean you don't have a null modem cable. Go to CompUSA or similar and buy a new cable. Unless you have a cable tester, you won't be able to tell the difference between the two types of cables (one has no wires changing position between ends, the other swaps some wires between the two ends).

I have a DCT2524 from Comcast and it works great with BTV4, but initially I had the wrong cable and it wouldn't change the channel. Plus you can always return the cable if its not the problem.

it was the cable. All week I've been pulling my hair out and it was the cable that I bought. Thanks for all the help. Now if i could only get rid of the tv guide info every time i change channels.
