Question The Good Way to Burn Low Quality Video?

I have some low quality videos. I want to know what is the best way to burn them into DVD-R if possible or CD-R if necessary.

The original video were recorded in VHS in "EP" quality. The video quality by then was already not good. Basically, the video quality is so low that I cannot tell any difference whether I capture it in "Fair" or "Best" quality (using PVR-250 and Beyond-TV). This is fine with me because I am willing to trade video quality for fitting more videos in one DVD or CD.

Now I have 7 low quality videos available in MPEG2 format (each only takes 1/2 GB). I am wondering which way should I burn them. I want to burn them in one DVD; but I come across messages in this forum that Beyond-TV "Fair" quality is not DVD-compliant. Can I burn them in VCD?

Thanks.

Re: The Good Way to Burn Low Quality Video?

I don't know what the lowest bit-rate allowed for DVD compliance is, but you can certanly burn them as VCD. The VCD format is often considered to be VHS quality video anyway. The only trouble with VCDs is that your milage may vary between DVD players, as some players will play VCD and others won't. You can find a comprehensive DVD player compatability list at www.videohelp.com.

Talking Re: The Good Way to Burn Low Quality Video?

Seem like I am better off forgetting about DVD-compliant, and simply put all the low quality videos in one DVD-R, and then go buy a DVD-player than can read MPEG2 files directly as files. My DVD-player cannot read any CD/DVD that I burn (CD-R, DVD-R, ...) anyway, no big loss.

Thanks for the info.
